COUNCILLORS last night (Wednesday) were expected to inspect a site earmarked for a controversial development.

Plans to build 11 properties on the site in Green Drift, Royston, have been re-submitted to North Herts District Council after other schemes had been rejected.

The site is in the middle of a residential area and plans for the land have developed into a long-running saga.

Nearby residents have bitterly opposed development of the site.

Residents' spokesman Caroline Coates said the latest scheme was "unsuitable" for the site.

She claimed the developers, Croudace Homes, were not listening to residents.

When a previous scheme for the site was discussed members of the Royston area committee accused the developers of being "arrogant" as previous comments had been ignored.
