A PLAYGROUP has received £3,000 - proceeds from plastic and metal recycling.

Sunbeams was presented with a cheque by Tesco at Royston, money raised through its automated recycling site.

Andrew Duckworth of Tesco said: "We decided to embrace the town's enthusiasm for recycling by introducing one of our intelligent recycling units.

"At the same time we thought it would be good for a local cause to benefit."

Playgroup chairman Cathy Brownjohn said: "It will help us to keep running and to refresh our stock of toys.
