The A4 pacific class 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley stopped at Royston station on Saturday to take on water.
It was pulling the Christmas Fenman service from London Kings Cross to Kings Lynn, and arrived in Royston at just after midday.
The steam engine still holds the post-war steam speed record of 112mph, set on May 23, 1959.
