EARLY bird students from The Meridian School are celebrating record-breaking GCSE results.
The 140 Year 11 pupils from the Royston school sat GCSE exams early in various subjects, with 66 per cent of them attaining grades A* - C, breaking the school's previous record of 63 per cent.
Headteacher Dr Mike Firth said: "These outstanding results reinforce the strength of mathematics in Royston's middle and upper schools.
"As readers will know, all three schools are specialist maths and computing schools, and the benefits are self evident. Congratulations to students and staff."
Those pupils who attained A* - B grades will now begin their A level studies early, or begin studying for an additional statistics GCSE which they will sit with the rest of their classmates in the summer.
