THE One Stop shop in Meldreth was ram-raided by a gang who knocked a cash machine out of the wall.

The raid happened at about 12.35am on Monday.

Up to five people are thought to have taken part in the incident in Meldreth High Street before making their getaway towards Shepreth.

A dark 4x4 vehicle and a white Japanese-style sports car with a chrome exhaust are thought to have been involved in the raid.

Police are also trying to trace a motorbike that may have played a part.

Detective Constable Ian Butcher said: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or any suspicious activity in the Meldreth area to contact police."

The latest raid comes six weeks after a gang used a 4x4 car to drag a cash machine out of the post office in Queens Road, Royston.

This followed an incident in April when a gang stole a ticket machine from Ashwell Station.
