Offenders were left empty-handed when they damaged a security light and used an object in an attempt to force their way through the front door of a house in Melbourn at the weekend.
Police were called to reports of the attempted burglary at the home in Hale Close, which occurred between 2pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday.
In a separate incident, crooks stole tools from two garages in Croydon High Street between 6pm on Saturday and 11.30am on Sunday. They forced open Yale locks and used bolt cutters to enter the garages.
Engine parts from an unregistered Nissan racing car were also stolen.
Police have no description of any of the offenders, but anyone with informations should contact them on 101.
