CHILDREN assumed control of a school this week but parents need not worry - the teachers have now regained order.

About 155 Key stage 2 pupils 'took over' Bassingbourn Primary School on Tuesday, in an activity organised by teacher Sue Clay.

Mrs Clay said that the day-long event aimed to give the children more responsibility and help them understand what is involved in running the school.

She said: "The children had to apply for jobs and we had a job board up.

"We had jobs for everything including in the kitchen, the office, caretaking and teaching.

"The children have been incredibly enthusiastic about it and we have had lots of positive feedback.
