BUDDING journalists have produced a 17th century-style newspaper.

Pupils from Barkway Primary School took part in the exercise for the 11th year in succession, producing The Barkway Beagle.

Headteacher Jenny Heinzelmann said: "It's quite a tradition because it's such a great cross-curriculum learning activity and something that everyone can get involved with."

Years 3 and 4 based their paper on the era of King James I.

"The exercise enabled pupils to learn a lot more about the area," said Mrs Heinzelmann.

"The children thought it was an exciting experience and really enjoyed it, probably because of the connection they had with the world of work.

"They like doing something grown-up and the responsibility challenges them.
