PUPILS at Edwinstree School in Buntingford are hoping their dream will come true.

They have entered a national competition to find a school choir to be a part of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Head of music at the school, Sarah Waddington, said: "It was the children's idea.

"They had seen it on television, and came to me saying 'we have to do this' so we sent off the application."

BBC1's Any Dream Will Do sees contestants battle it out for the lead role of Joseph while school's have been invited to compete for the children's choir.

The school has a choir of 150 pupils, but this had to be whittled down to just 20 for the competition.

Miss Waddington said: "It was hard, all of the children wanted to be a part of it."

The pupils are now asking for support as they join the other schools on the BBC's website where the public can vote. The 20 schools with the highest number of votes will go through to the finals.

Miss Waddington, who has been watching the show, said: "We need all of the children to tell their parents. We need parents to tell their friends and even knock on doors and get the whole neighbourhood voting. We need everyone to give us a vote."
