ROYSIA Middle School, in Royston took Year 7 pupils to the see the Henry Moore sculptures at Perry Green in Much Hadham.
Pupils had a guided tour of the sculpture garden, Moore's studio and barns containing working models.
They learned about the process of bronze casting and looked at tapestries based on Moore's figure drawings.
A school spokesman said: "The pupils were encouraged to examine the sculptures from all angles and appreciate the different surface textures.
"This provided valuable insight when we returned to the garden for drawing sessions. Some excellent drawings were produced.
"Both pupils and staff enjoyed the whole experience with one pupil calling it his best trip ever.
