It's time to dust off the punk clobber, make with the temporary tattoos and apply that dark eyeliner - three bands are on their way to Meldreth with a mission to shake things up.

Southampton band The Smokin’ Prophets are fresh out of the studio and ready to release their debut album, with 13 high octane songs influenced by genres from punk to sleazy hard rock.

The band makes the most of a musical mash-up of the trademark sounds of stadium kings Guns N’ Roses, the glam and punk of cult stars like Johnny Thunders and The New York Dolls and the metal pop punk of Green Day.

The Smokin’ Prophets have had successful UK tours, European festival slots and have supported many old school and current glam and hard rock acts.

Band member Marty Mayhem said: “We are really looking forward to the show because the venue and people involved have something really good going on.

“Everyone is out to have a good time and look out for each other, it’s probably one of the best places we have played in the UK for those reasons.

“We played at the Eternit Sports and Social Club for the Reaper Fest and Beer Festival back in August – so people should know what to expect.

“However if you missed that show you should expect some good old loud-in-your-face rock‘n’roll – just how it should be.”

Another name on the bill is edgy five-piece band Silent Divide, a Colchester-based crew who have gigged all over the country as they build a name for themselves in the alternative rock scene.

Last but not least is 4Fit, one of Cambridge’s longest serving punk rock bands who were formed back in the 1980s.

Founder member Chris Mallows fronts the band which play original songs alongside loud and fast cover tracks.

The three bands will grace the stage at the Melbourn Rock Club event at the Eternit venue in Whaddon Road, Meldreth.

Tickets are £7 for Saturday’s gig and can be reserved by ringing 01763 260250.

Tickets can also be bought on the door.
