POSTAGE stamps are available alongside pints at a village pub from this week.

The Queens Head pub in Fowlmere now offers post office services along with the more traditional food and drink.

Landlord Alan Clasby, who has run the pub for the last five years with his wife Jo, said: "The Post Office approached us to open a post office facility at the pub and we jumped at the chance. We're a real community pub here and this makes us a central facility for everyone.

"It will certainly bring the village together and if they fancy a cup of tea or pint of beer whilst they get their pension, they can," he said.

Phil Arnold, from Greene King, who own the pub, said, "Pubs are an essential part of village life and Alan and Jo have done a great job creating this service. The Post Office will just add to what is a brilliant community pub."

Post office services started on Monday, and are available Monday - Friday from 10am - Noon at the Queen's Head.
