Police are appealing for witnesses after reports a man has been spotted in Reed asking for money to buy petrol.

Officers were called just before 9am yesterday after reports of a man asking for cash for petrol, and that he would pay the victims back the following day.

They did not find any sign of the man or the silver vehicle he was travelling in.

A spokeswoman said: “It is believed to be a scam and we would urge people to be vigilant. Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity can call police on 101.”
