POLICE have praised two have-a-go heroes who stopped a suspected burglar.

The pair stepped in after a woman living in High Street, Foxton, had discovered three men in her home on Tuesday.

She chased the gang out of her house towards a parked, in which two escaped. But the third man made off on foot, and was chased by the public-spirited duo, who detained the man until the police arrived.

Detective Inspector Andy Gipp said: "This is a great example of the community looking out for one another and acting quickly to help a neighbour."

Investigations are continuing in a bid to trace the other two men, and Det Insp Gipp appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

He said: "I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident or the missing men."

Anyone with information should contact police at Parkside Police Station on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

*A 23-year old man was arrested and was taken to Parkside Police Station, Cambridge.
