CAMBRIDGESHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after an off-duty police officer was assaulted in Arrington earlier today (Monday).
At about 8.30am, the officer noticed a man acting suspiciously on the roof of Arrington church, in Church End.
The officer attempted to restrain the man after he came down from the roof and tried to leave. He suffered minor injuries after being attacked with a screwdriver.
The offender is described as white, slim, about 5'8"with short fair hair. He was wearing a t-shirt and a blue shell suit jacket and trousers. He left the scene in a blue Peugeot 206 and headed towards the A1198.
Det Sgt Dean Wiffen, investigating, said: "I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this man acting suspiciously in the area.
"We also want to speak to anyone who believes they have seen this vehicle since."
