A police officer has appeared in court charged with rape.
Sergeant Nick Lidstone, 54, from Barrington, appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, charged with two counts of rape and one of sexual assault relating to incidents which took place in 2008.
He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody until July 14, when a trial will take place at Norwich Crown Court.
Lidstone was arrested on Wednesday, and works for Cambridgeshire Police. A force spokesman said he has been suspended from duty while legal proceedings take place.
