Police have intervened after a 10-year-old boy threatened another pupil at a Royston school via social media.

The Year 5 student at Greneway Middle School is believed to have threatened another child and his family last Monday.

A parent at the school said: “This obviously violent pupil has not been excluded. My children are at the same school and it’s very worrying.”

A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police said: “Police were contacted by a member of the public at around 5.45pm on March 17 reporting concerns about a threatening message sent from one boy to another, who were known to each other, via social media.

“Officers looked into the matter, speaking with both parties and their parents, and have given words of advice to the boy who issued the threat. Both parties were happy with the action taken by police. No illegal firearm was seized.”

A spokesman for Greneway School said: “As a school we were made aware of an issue on a social networking site outside of school hours and this has now been dealt with by the PCSOs.”
