POLICE are searching for a car thief who stole an Audi RS4 after breaking into a house for the car keys this morning (Thursday).
The burglar broke into the property in Mill Road, Royston, just before 4am to grab the keys and also stole a wallet before making off in the homeowner's car.
Hertfordshire police sent out a helicopter to try to track the thief down and working with Cambridgeshire police found the vehicle abandoned in Cadwin Fields, Cambridge.
Anybody who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Hertfordshire Police on 0845 3300222.
