A POLICE helicopter and dog unit were sent out to reports of someone breaking into ticket machines at Royston railway station in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

The police received a call at 3.40am and found the machines damaged but still in tact and conducted a search of the surrounding area but were unable to find the culprits.

It is the second time the police helicopter has been sent out in the space of a week after it was deployed in search of a car thief last Thursday.
