PLAYGROUND fun and games were on the menu when two schools got together for an afternoon of clapping, skipping and ball games.
Tannery Drift School’s Year 4 Penguin class invited their counterparts from St Mary’s School, Royston, in for a Playground Festival which marked the culmination of their spring term topic, Playground Games.
A spokesman for the school said: “Through prior discussion a range of activities were selected to support development of agility and co-ordination. The playground was divided into five zones with areas such as tag games, circle games, ball games, skipping and clapping rhymes.
“Tannery children partnered St Mary’s children throughout the afternoon with designated children within each group acting as leaders to teach the rhymes and other things they’d learned.
“All children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and it is hoped to continue such inter-school links in the future.”
