ROYSTON'S pinkest charity event is back, and organisers hope to raise a record breaking total to help cancer patients.

The Pink Ribbon run/walk will this year take place on Sunday June 27, and will see competitors take to a three-mile course on Therfield Heath in support of Marie Curie Cancer care.

Last year £22,000 was raised at the run, enabling Marie Curie to provide 1,100 hours of nursing care to terminally ill patients and their families.

Christine Brown, from the Pink Run organising committee, said: "The challenge is now on to beat that total.

"All the money raised from the event will help Marie Curie Cancer Care to provide high quality nursing, totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families, completely free.

"The organising committee would like to thank all the sponsors for their generous support and encourage people to sign up as soon as possible as places are limited.

"Meridian school have been one of the first to enter with a team of students and teachers and are looking forward to the event," she said.

The walk/run is open to men, women and children. It costs £12 for an adult to register and £6 for children under 16, and the entry fee includes a t-shirt as well as a medal and goody bag on finishing.

There are some great fundraising prizes up for grabs, as well as awards for the best fancy dress and a new category, best dressed buggy.

Entry forms are available from the Crow offices in Angel Pavement, Royston leisure centre, Royston library and many local shops.

You can also enter online at www.pinkribbonrunwalk.co.uk.
