A pedestrian has died after a collision with a fire engine near Tesco Extra in Royston yesterday evening.
Police are currently investigating the incident which happened on the roundabout linking York Way and Old North Road at 8.45pm.
A police spokesman has said: “The circumstances surrounding the collision are still unclear, but it appears a fire engine, which was responding to an emergency call, was in collision with a pedestrian while negotiating the roundabout.”
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and sadly died at the scene.
The fire engine is currently still in the road and closures are in place in Rock Road with the junction of Old North Road and the roundabout by Tesco.
