A CYCLIST pedalled his way from London to Paris last week to raise cash for a medical research charity.

John Foy, 62, from Barley, was part of a group that completed the 320 mile route in aid of Action Medical Research, who carry out research into children's health issues.

Keen cyclist Mr Foy said: "We were doing 80 miles per day so it was quite gruelling. I'd done 80 mile days before but never four in a row.

"The best bit of it was probably when we got to Paris, cycling round the Arc de Triomphe and down the Champs Elysee.

He added: "We were in a big group to keep us safe from the Parisian drivers!"

After the ride Mr Foy enjoyed a few days in France watching the completion of the Tour de France.

Sponsorship money is still coming in, and anyone wishing to make a donation can contact Mr Foy on 01763 848408.
