VICTIMS of burglary in South Cambridgeshire will now be given information packs filled with crime prevention advice.

The district is one of the first in Cambridgeshire to benefit from the new packs being issued by Cambridgeshire Police's crime and incident management team.

Det Insp Adam Gallop, from Cambridgeshire Police, said that so far the force have had a "really positive response" to the packs.

He said: "From the beginning of this year burglary has been our top priority for the area and this pack has been developed to reinforce the support we have in place for victims and to help people understand how burglaries are investigated.

As well as a range of helpful tips to protect your home, the packs will include a consignment of SmartWater. This can be used to mark property, and although it is invisible to the naked eye, it glows under UV light, making it simple to detect stolen goods.

The pack is delivered by a local PCSO, who will also offer advice on home security.
