MOTORISTS are being warned about leaving valuables in vehicles after an outbreak of thefts.

Police in Royston have reported that there were thefts from vehicles in Newmarket Road, Parthia Close and Icknield Walk between July 21 and July 22.

Sgt Pete Frost, of the Royston neighbourhood team, said: "Most care thieves do not plan their break-ins, but seize any opportunity particularly when they see a car as an easy target."

He said vehicles should not be left with valuables on view to potential thieves.

More than 20 car aerials have been stolen from vehicles parked in Teasdale Close, Mill Road and King James Way in Royston over the past week.

Chief Insp Geoff Camp said the series of car aerial thefts was "unusal" and police were linking the incidents.
