HANDS-ON science was on the menu for pupils at a village school.

Petersfield Primary School in Orwell abandoned their normal curriculum for day, instead organising a variety of science activities for pupils from across the school.

Claire Watkins, Petersfield's science coordinator, explained: "We know that pupils learn best when they have lots of opportunities to enjoy hands-on practical activities."

The children enjoyed making slime and flubber, healthy flapjacks, composting activities, recycling workshops, and took part in a rocket launch challenge.

Amanda Tuck, the school's head teacher thanked the schools "friends in the community", including Professor Harry Marsh from St John's College in Cambridge, Heather Polge, education officer from Wimpole Home Farm, and Wayne Talbot from WTA, for making the day possible

She added: "As an eco-school, it was good to see Petersfield pupils learning a huge amount about recycling, reusing, and living healthily.
