There were queues at the door as more than 300 people attended the opening of a new charity shop in Royston High Street on Saturday.
MP Sir Oliver Heald and town mayor Ben Lewis cut the ribbon to celebrate the arrival of the Wood Green animal charity store at number 15.
Chief executive of the charity Clive Byles said: “Our opening day was hugely successful, and the local support and enthusiasm shown by the Royston community was heart-warming.”
Customers complimented the staff and volunteers on the sleek layout, branding and overall image of the shop.
The High Street shop will help raise funds for the charity by selling recycled goods, supporting the charity’s mission to take in unwanted and lost animals, provide shelter, care, and find secure and loving homes.
