HUNDREDS of people turned out for this year's Barley Show.

And one of the main attractions was the Standon Morris Men, who performed on The Plaistow.

The group is one of the leading teams in the country and the crowd were delighted by their two performances which covered a wide spectrum of Morris dancing.

The emphasis of the show, as in previous years, remained close to its 19th century origins when Barley was a true agriculture community. At the heart of the show was the Barley Flower Show, an open show which covered flowers, vegetables and fruit, cookery, crafts and a wide range of children's entries.

The event opened with the horse show run by the Barley stables Lovely View and also included such activities as a five-a-side football competition and a dog show.

And the day culminated with the Great Barley Egg-throwing competition with nearly 100 competitors taking part.
