MORE than 70 members of Royston Runners turned out for a charity run.

And a total of £200 was raised for the Royston & District Hospital and Richard Cox House in Royston.

The annual event takes place to celebrate the setting up of the club, which is now in its 22nd year.

Club chairman Maurice Hill said: "It's become something of a tradition."

The event involved a handicap race around a 10km course around Royston.

"Everyone starts at different times, and they all more or less finish together," said Mr Hill.

To enter the event each member has to donate a cake which is then sold to raise money in an auction.

"Some of the prices are quite amazing," said Mr Hill.

The money raised was split equally between the hospital and Richard Cox House.
