A group of pub regulars have spent more than a £100,000 as patrons at the Therfield hostelry they have gone to every week since 1996 – prompting the landlord of their favourite watering hole to donate their latest bill to charity.

Ivan Titmuss, landlord of the Fox and Duck in Therfield, said the affectionately named ‘old gits’ had been coming in every Wednesday evening since 1996, with the same window and table area always reserved.

Their accounts, which remarkably they still have, show they have spent £100,122.50 in that time – and Ivan chose to donate their receipts of £125 last Wednesday to the charity of their choice, Parkinson’s UK.

Ivan told the Crow: “They are the most loyal bunch of jolly customers a pub could ever have.

“Although one or two members of the affectionately named ‘old gits’ have passed away since 1996, the Fox and Duck would like to thank these ‘old gits’ for continuing to brighten up the pub every Wednesday evening – and long may they continue.”
