STUDENTS at The Meridian School in Royston practiced treading the boards on Monday when they performed scenes from Shakespeare plays. The students in Year 9 interpreted scenes from Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing as preparation for their SATs, which are to be taken later in the year. The scenes were judged by head teacher Dr Mike Firth, head of Year 9 Julie Galvin and Pat Baxter, chairman of governors. The winning entry will be entered into a BBC competition, One Minute Shakespeare. Kevin O'Grady, head of English, said: "The students didn't have a lot of time, but the focus was on interpretation and how they did it. "There was a wide range of different interpretations for the same scenes, which was great.
