ROYSTON nightclub Nu has had an application to extend its licence over the Christmas period knocked back.
The North Herts District Council (NHDC) Licensing and Appeals Committee met this week to decide whether an extension to the clubs opening hours should be permitted.
Managers of the club in Market Hill had asked if the night club's hours could be extended over Christmas and for New Year, from 1am-3am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Their application was made after a previous NHDC licence review ordered the club to adhere to a new set of opening guidelines, which resulted in the club having to close at 1.30am.
A spokesman for NHDC said: "Despite the committee appreciating that the club is doing well and adhering to the guidelines, the extension was refused as they deemed it to be too premature in view of the short period since the review.
