A new train company has taken over the running of services through Crow country.
The Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) franchise will run the Great Northern route from Cambridge to London King’s Cross, which passes through Royston, as well as other stations such as Meldreth, Shepreth and Ashwell.
Also incorporating the Thameslink route, it is the country’s largest rail franchise, and GTR took over the running of the line from previous operator First Capital Connect on Sunday.
Charles Horton, GTR chief executive, said: “Over time we will be making real improvements to passengers’ experience and managing the major changes that are happening on this part of the rail network.
“We’ve listened to what people want, and will be increasing capacity on busy commuter services, improving reliability and punctuality, introducing three new fleets of trains, spending £50 million on station improvements, and investing in our employees’ training and development.”
