Members of a new Royston action group, who are taking on the fight to stop 120 homes being build by speculative land developer Gladman in the town, have held a public meeting attended by more than 60 people.

Residents who oppose the proposed development near Briary Lane met at Coombes Community Centre for the Royston Hills and Lanes Residents Action Group meeting.

“We need to work together as a community to fight this development” said group member Janet Rossignol-Bubbins.

“The impact of this proposed development on our town will be felt for generations and does not fit with the proposed North Herts District Council Local Plan.

“We urge all residents of Royston to oppose the application.”

The North East Herts MP has informed the group that he has supported objections.

Sir Oliver Heald said: “I have written to NHDC supporting the objections of constituents to the planning application by Gladman for 120 houses.”
