New room opened with cake competition

A SCHOOL in Puckeridge celebrated its newly renovated food technology room by setting pupils an unusual cake making competition – that was judged by a celebrity chef. Ralph Sadleir School in Station Road set Year 5 pupils the task of making Christmas cake

A SCHOOL in Puckeridge celebrated its newly renovated food technology room by setting pupils an unusual cake making competition - that was judged by a celebrity chef.

Ralph Sadleir School in Station Road set Year 5 pupils the task of making Christmas cakes in empty baked bean tins.

The children baked and decorated their cakes before giving them away as gifts.

Each cake was given the once-over by Head chef of he South Bank's fashionable Waterloo Fire Station Restaurant, Paul Bloxham.

A spokeswoman for the school said: "The children have thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas cake-making.

"It was great for Paul Bloxham to visit and he spent time talking to the children about food and cooking and answered any questions they had.
