Parents and friends of Bassingbourn Village College who have formed an official group are calling out to fellow parents, villagers, businesses and former pupils to join them for their first event.

The Parents and Friends of Bassingbourn Village College Association – co-chaired by Tessa Storey – is hosting their first cheese and wine evening at the school in South End.

Mrs Storey: “ BVC has a long history of engaging the local community in supporting the school.

“It’s incredibly valuable to get a diverse group of people together who can represent different points of view, different skills, and contribute to fundraising whether they’re parents of pupils or not.”

BVC principal Duncan Cooper said: “This is an exciting time for Bassingbourn Village College and we would like to invite anyone with an interest in the college to come along and support this new group.

“We are delighted that a wide representation of the local community has been invited to support BVC. A vibrant and diverse parents and friends association will be a great asset to the school and to our pupils.”

An open cheese and wine evening will take place on June 19 at the school’s library from 7.30pm until 9pm. Everyone is welcome to come along find out more about the group and how they can get involved. There will also be an exhibition of archive photography, and current pupils’ GCSE art displays. The group also has a new logo designed by Beth Lievesley, who is the mum of a pupil,

Mrs Storey said the design reflects the desire to bring together a network of people that will surround and support children attending BVC.
