BASSINGBOURN'S county councillor, Linda Oliver, has been named Chairman of Cambridgeshire County Council.

Cllr Oliver was elevated from the post of deputy chairman at the council's annual meeting, held earlier today (Tuesday June 23).

She replaces Cllr Tony Orgee, with Cllr John Powlay stepping up to the role of deputy.

The meeting also saw Cllr Jill Tuck given the role of leader of the council and cabinet chairman.
