Museum exhibition marks 30 years of Royston Photographic Society

In total 53 images, produced by more than 30 society members, are on display at Royston and District Museum.

Club member David Hatton said: “This is a really eye-catching exhibition highlighting the fine range of photo skills possessed by the club’s members.

“We are really grateful to the museum curator Adam Culling and his volunteers for help with setting up this wonderful show. Featuring architecture, travel, portraiture, wildlife, equine and international travel, to name but a few, it shows off the range of techniques members use to capture intriguing images.

“It’s a great way for the club to showcase its talents, and help celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the society’s formation in 1987.

“It’s also a chance for visitors to purchase a really affordable sample of local photography art to display at home.”

On display in the Lower King Street museum’s upper gallery are the images, which this year had no set theme.

They feature colour and mono prints, and each picture is accompanied by printed information about the inspiration behind the image, often with insights into how the photographer set up the shot.

The exhibition is free to enter at the regular opening times of Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and will be on show until May 13.

The society meets Thursday evenings in term time at Icknield Walk First School and welcomes enquiries from potential new members. All levels of experience catered for. For details see roystonphotographicsociety.co.uk.
