DETECTIVES from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime unit have today confirmed the cause of death of a man, whose body parts have been found in Hertfordshire and Leicestershire since March 22.

A post mortem has revealed the cause of death to be a knife wound to the back.

DCI Michael Hanlon (pictured) from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: "Work to identify the murder victim continues. Officers have already eliminated almost 60 men from the missing persons' database. I would like to take this opportunity to again appeal to anyone who may know this man."

Experts are currently working to create a clay reconstruction of the man's face in the hope that this will further assist officers to identify the victim.

DCI Hanlon added: "I would like to appeal to anyone who may have any information about suspicious activity around the deposition sites in Leicestershire or Hertfordshire any time from March 18. This is when we believe the body parts were left at the five locations."

Police have also revealed the man was aged from mid 40s to early 60s and weighed between 16 and 17 stone.

The latest discovery was on Saturday, April 11, when the victim's torso was discovered in a suitcase in a ditch in Gore Lane near Standon in East Herts.

Detectives have also confirmed that this suitcase was the same make as the holdall in which the left leg was found in on March 22 near Cottered in East Herts.
