Competition prizes include climbing to the top of Big Ben and a tour of the House of Commons.

Mr Heald said: "I hope schools in this area will consider entering the Christmas card design competition.

"Big Ben is known around the world and we are all very proud of this landmark.

"I have climbed the clock tower to listen to the bells chime and it is a wonderful experience."

Full details about the competition are available by emailing bigben150@parliament.uk and the closing date for entries is February 28.
