About 150 people showed their support for vulnerable people at home and abroad when they attended the Great Chishill Sport Relief Mile.

MP Heidi Allen was on hand to open the race, which attracted families and serious runners to tackle the 1, 3 or 6 mile course.

On the day £1,000 was raised, but this total will rise once individual sponsorship money is accounted for.

Organiser Sarah Scott said: “It was a fantastic day and I would like to thank everyone who took part in the race, the WI for producing and selling some delicious cakes, for Heidi who opened the race, for Wobbly Wayne – who provided a bouncy castle for free and donated all his proceeds to Sport Relief – for all the helpers prior to and on the day. Without these people, we could not have had such a successful day’.
