A-level results day 2018: Royston’s Meridian Sixth Form College

Staff and students at Meridian Sixth Form College are celebrating “an excellent set of results” after A-level grades were revealed today.
For the third year in a row, results have gone up – 45 per cent of grades awarded to students were A* to B.
Clive Crisford, the head of sixth form at Meridian, said: “I am delighted that once again the students have succeeded in gaining their university and apprenticeship places with a brilliant set of results. Huge congratulations to all our sixth form students!”
Outstanding individual A-level performances included Aidan Marvell, who will now go on to study engineering and mathematics at Bristol University. after maintaining his “excellent track record” with three A* grades in maths, further maths and physics. Fellow student Daniel Dawes achieved an A* and two A grades.
As well as students going on to higher education, Meridian students will also embark on apprenticeships in a range of employment sectors. Ben Crawford, who achieved four A*s is taking up a degree apprenticeship with ARM based in Cambridge.
Other A-level high flyers included Luke Saward – who gained two As, a B and a C – and will study law at University of East Anglia, Matthew Bailey who achieved Distinction* and two distinctions at Cambridge Technicals in sport and physical activity, and Lucy O’Connor, who scored A*, A,C is taking a gap year.
Mr Crisford added: “Congratulations to all our sixth form students for working incredibly hard and achieving such strong results in addition to their wider contributions to the leadership of the school. One of the keys of our success is a consistent focus on the interests of the students, developing a broad range of skills and responsibilities. We wish our Year 13 students every success as they leave us for the next exciting chapter in their lives.”
