MEN are being encouraged to don their aprons and brush up on their cooking skills at new classes.

The classes are being provided at the Heath Sports Club, and will take place in the kitchens at the club, which is located at the foot of Therfield Heath, just off Baldock Road, Royston.

They are the brainchild of the club's head chef, Dean Willan.

He said: "We want to teach men the core skills in cooking and handling the tools of the trade, using great ingredients along the way.

"It is not about turning our gents into chefs, but giving everyone the confidence to prepare and cook our favourite dishes."

Lessons will cover the basics of knife skills, timing, temperature settings, and understanding, choosing, and cooking a range of ingredients.

Mr Willan added: "We teach people different recipes, from baking your own bread to making the perfect Sunday roast."

The sessions will take place on Thursday evenings, between 7-8.30pm.

For more information, or to book a place, contact Mr Willan or Toby Snowdon on 01763 243613.
