Chihuahua Lulu went missing after being chased by a another dog near Bassingbourn and more than 30 people joined owner Kaz Wagland on a search party to find her.

On Monday Kaz received a call saying the skull of a dog had been found and a vet confirmed it was her beloved pooch.

Kaz, of Grays Close in Royston, said: “I have buried Lulu in my garden. She’s at rest now. In the end I just wanted someone to love her. She was a funny little dog, loving and very faithful. She was my daughter’s dog but she used to sleep with me every night.”

On Facebook she wrote a heartfelt message to the dog saying: “I will miss you forever and ever my little Lulu.”

Kaz plans to put up a memorial plaque at the site where Lulu was found.

She said: “I would like to thank everyone who has helped in the search and sent flowers and kind messages.”
