A Meldreth veterinary nurse has been shortlisted for a national award for her “outstanding and caring work” in the village.

Jo Brown, who works at Village Vet in Stone Lane, is a finalist in the 2018 Petplan Awards and may be crowned Veterinary Nurse of the Year at a ceremony in London next month.

Jo said: “I’m absolutely delighted, very honoured and a little overwhelmed to be a finalist.

“I have been a veterinary nurse for 21 years now and it’s fantastic to have this recognition after so long in the profession.

“I have always wanted to help people and their pets by providing high standards of care, but also by being a friendly face within the local community who they can come to with anything at all.”

Jo has also rescued two chihuahuas called Carmen and Rollins who can be spotted walking with her in the area, and has big rare breed draught horse called Bear kept nearby.
