It was a chance to gawp at some spectacular vehicles while supporting a church that’s been at the heart of the village for nearly 1,000 years.

A range of classic cars rolled up for the 11th annual Meldreth Churchyard Car Show on Sunday afternoon – all to raise money to preserve the Holy Trinity Church in North End.

There were nearly 50 vehicles on display dating from as long ago as 1924 and covering an eclectic mix – from Mr Marsh’s butcher van to stylish Ferraris and more.

John Price, from the Friends of Holy Trinity Churchyard Car Show, said: “One rare sight was two MG model WAs – of which only 369 were made and only 23 are surviving.

“They have a unique cover over the rear mudguards, as part of the rear doors, so ladies don’t get dirt on their skirts when getting into the back.”

The day was a feast for the eyes, and the ears – as the Memphis Jazz Band played in the afternoon while tea was served.
