The principal of Melbourn Village College has said he is “proud of the school’s international outlook” after it was accredited with the International School Award.
The accolade, which is a globally recognised accreditation handed out by the British Council, celebrates the school’s international work.
MVC was the first school in Cambs to offer the Chinese language as part of the curriculum two years ago, and they are now part of the Mandarin Excellence Program which helps fast-track learners to taking GCSE up to two years early.
The school also teaches Spanish as a second language from Year 7 and has a number of exchange and cultural visits with schools in Spain.
Principal Simon Holmes said: “We are delighted to have achieved this award. We are very proud of the school’s international outlook and, in particular, our ground-breaking Mandarin programme.”
MVC will now be accredited until August 2021.
