The participants completed a swimathon at Melbourn Sports Centre, which helped to raise money for Marie Curie cancer care.

They took parft in the swimathon’s established 400m, 1.5k, 2.5k, and 5k distance challenges at the village pool, which was was one of more than 600 nationwide hosting the event.

Pool manager Graham Johnson-Mack said: “It was great to see so many different age groups and abilities taking part. They all seemed to have fun, as well as raising money for a great cause.”

The pool has been open since 1991 and had an upgrade and repair work last year, which was achieved thanks to fundraisers and the generous sponsorship of Melbourn’s Technology Partnership – TTP – group.

Booking for next year’s event will be open from January 2019. To enter, sponsor a swimmer, or to find out more visit www.swimathon.org.
