A rose grown to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War I will be planted by students at a school after it was brought back from its naming ceremony in France.
A Rose of Peace will be planted next month in the grounds of Melbourn Village College following a naming ceremony last week for the new variety in the Picardy region of France, which involved eight Year 8 students and two members of staff from the college.
The group were invited to France during half-term by the Regional Council of Picardy, which organised and funded the trip in conjunction with the Orchestre de Picardie.
Student Jenna Thomas-Warren said: “I really enjoyed the opportunity of going on this amazing French trip.”
