Guests of a garden party in Melbourn helped raised £500 for the village’s All Saints’ Church.
More than 60 guests, including the new vicar for Melbourn and Meldreth Rev Lizzie Shipp, went along to David and Diane Blundell’s Greenbanks home where villagers were tasked with bringing along their finest blooms for their first Dahlia Day – which they hope will become an annual village show.
Winners were Rosemary Gatward, pictured with Diane Blundell, and Mavis Howard.
“It was a lovely afternoon,” Diane told the Crow.
“The village was very supportive and all the money raised – which included an anonymous donation of £200 – will go towards buying a new notice board for All Saints’.”
